OUR Fixer Upper

Here is our fixer upper. We took the plunge and kinda sorta fell into a home that came unexpectedly expected, which is very hard to explain, but a very happy story full of memories and good things!

SO...what have we been up to in this old gem?

The kitchen rehab. We are new "rehabers" and I have to say that I'm getting really addicted to this type of work. My day job is a teacher, my night job is mommy first, of course, then designing interior plans, learning about tools, etc.with my hubs. The weekends consist of getting our hands dirty in this home as every inch needs to be redone. We are maintaining as much of the original house as possible. You know that old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" 

This is my 80 year old father-in-law at work. He LOVES this and is such a talented builder. We are so lucky!!! 

Imagine a barn light hanging here in the kitchen. 

 We know this is all going to take time.

Would you buy this house? Some of you may look at it as overwhelming. Waaaay tooo much work. Yes. And yes. But, this has already been the most rewarding experience for us and we are just getting started.

I can envision what it will be. Some people can't and say we are crazy, but that's the whole exciting part of this project! The after. What it will be. Keeping it as original as we can, yet making it what we want to live in.
